چکیده
The paper gives an overveiew of radioecological concepts, reference information on plants and soils used in the project. Main classification schemes applied to summarize the data on radionuclide transfer to plants are also described. Generic quantities and units used in the current document are also given. They are mainly defined according to the the ICRU 65 report. 1. DEFINITIONS, QUANTITIES AND UNITS In 1997, a report committee was initiated and established by the International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) to prepare a report on statistical aspects and sampling strategies when measuring radionuclides in the environment.

متن کاملDiverse alkane hydroxylase genes in microorganisms and environments
AlkB and CYP153 are important alkane hydroxylases responsible for aerobic alkane degradation in bioremediation of oil-polluted environments and microbial enhanced oil recovery. Since their distribution in nature is not clear, we made the investigation among thus-far sequenced 3,979 microbial genomes and 137 metagenomes from terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments. Hundreds of diverse a...
متن کاملAn overview of the status, trends and challenges of freshwater fish research and conservation in Malaysia
Freshwater fish biodiversity is a precious natural asset in terms of economic, cultural and scientific interest. And yet, the inland freshwater ecosystem in Malaysia is declining at a far greater rate than terrestrial ecosystems in the tropics. What happened, and what is being done to address the crisis? This paper extracts findings from the latest literature and explores overarching issues per...
متن کاملA Study on Transfer Factors of Environmental Radionuclides: Radionuclide Transfer from Soil to Different Varieties of Rice in Gorgan, Iran
Introduction Natural and artificial radionuclides are the main sources of human radiation exposure. These radionuclides, which are present in the environment, can enter the food chain. Rice is one of the most important food components in Iran. Radionuclides by transferring from soil to rice and entering the human body can affect human health. Materials and Methods Fourteen samples of different ...
متن کاملRadioactive contamination in the Arctic--sources, dose assessment and potential risks.
Arctic residents, whose diets comprise a large proportion of traditional terrestrial and freshwater foodstuffs, have received the highest radiation exposures to artificial radionuclides in the Arctic. Doses to members of both the average population and selected indigenous population groups in the Arctic depend on the rates of consumption of locally-derived terrestrial and freshwater foodstuffs,...
